The waters surrounding Salem have always been the lifeblood of the city, providing fishing, profitable maritime trade and physical mobility of goods and people. The many islands dotting the area have a rich and fascinating history of their own. First installed at the Salem Museum in 2019, OUt To Sea: The Salem Harbor Islands exhibit tells just a few of those island stories. Click on each image to get an enlarged view.
